The project aims to improve maternal and child health in the Nkhoma Hospital catchment area.
Objectives
Health facility * The project will reduce the annual number of malaria cases with 25% (2011 vs 2009). * The project will reduce the annual number of inpatient malaria deaths with 25% (2011 vs 2009). * The project will reduce the annual number of blood transfusions for severe anaemia in children with 25% (2011 vs 2009).
Entomology * The project will reduce the mosquito density in the Nkhoma Hospital catchment area with 50% (2011 vs 2009).
Parasitology * The project will reduce parasitaemia and prevalence of anaemia in the intervention with 30% compared to the control area.
Operational * 90% of all inhabited structures in the Nkhoma Hospital catchment area will be sprayed. * 90% of respondents to a KPC survey at the end of the project will understand the benefit of IRS and express satisfaction with program implementation. Back to: Nkhoma IRS Program - Overview
